Bought for my Macbook Pro 15" from Late 2008, which had 2GB RAM in when bought.

I am a photographer and digital artist and use all the main image editors but my Macbook Pro was showing its age! I originally after 3 years, upgraded to 3GB RAM when I bought Aperture 3 cheap, off the App store and found it unbearable to use (as I've always found with Aperture). With 3GB it was still slow and annoying waiting for actions to work all the time and there were all the unexpected quits from kennel panics.

As I've been considering going Pro and realised I needed more of a reliable workflow, I started reading all these reviews on Max RAM for my Macbook Pro, and found they were saying that a firmware update meant I could now go to 8GB, even though it should have taken 4GB max (though some had had success with up to 6GB before this).

So I bought the 8GB and it works great! Definite improvement in Aperture 3, which was just hogging everything and fans running all the time! Photoshop CS5 runs super smooth and with no fans most of the time.

I can now multitask much better too between programs. I find the system does make good use of the 8GB as well for Photoshop and other image editors. E.g. right now i'm using Google Chrome (hogger of RAM when using multi tabs), Mail, and Aperture 3 and I have 3.5GB RAM free but that's with Aperture 3 in background doing nothing.

I'll just add that the RAM arrived quickly as well and was well packaged in a packet that fit through my letter box (no waiting in or collecting from post office when at work!). I would fully recommend this RAM, especially for this price! My Macbook, aside from now having a couple of dints in the top case, is good to go again for OS Lion and beyond!

    My System Spec's:

    Model Name: MacBook Pro
    Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1

    L2 Cache: 3 MB
    Memory: 8 GB

Apple is famous for their expensive ram but this was still a surprise to find this costing less then £30. chose frustration free packaging, which when it arrived appeared a little frail but item was pristine and I imagine they wouldn't use it if it didn't work.

The ram works fantastic, installation was a breeze (check ifixit dot com if you have any doubt about how to do it) programs run side by side like a dream.

One word of caution though; I like to work with taps and normally had a window or two full of tabs before I started running out of ram. I've noticed that now I've got 3-5 windows full of tabs open without thinking, more then that though and same issues appear. So, 8GB isn't infinite ram.. but it's close.

I'd love to do an all round review about how the costumer service was really good and they send me my money back/ a replacement. But they've not given me reason to find out. Everything worked as it should and 's been great. I'd recommend this for anyone who wants to have more tabs open.

7 months down the line, how does it fare....

Disappointing really. After the initial blisteringly fast performance, it's slowed down my Macbook White 7.1, running Snow Leopard. And its not because I now have more data or my Mac is 7 months older. In fact, I reinstalled the OS because I thought it was my Mac which was the culprit. The Apple website does say that 4 GB is the max memory you can install, however, I have read in places (many places) that 8 GB will work. Which is why I bought it in the first place. I am just glad I did not give away my 2 GB stock RAM. I am holding on to my previous review to benefit other Mac users who can 'legitimately' install 8 GB RAM.

    **********************************************************************
For its price (I bought it for £26) its a pretty neat product. I had my inhibitions before buying this since I read mixed reviews of an 8 GB RAM being compatible with a Macbook white (mid 2010). But once I installed it, all my inhibitions were laid to rest. My Macbook is now noticeably fast. To help you get a picture, the below table lists some common apps and the time taken to open them. I did not have any other application/ services running whilst recording time taken (except Chrome and OS related services). However, I must add that the time taken to open an app with others running was hardly any different.

    iTunes: 3 seconds ( I have a 3.5 GB library)
    Safari: 1.1 seconds
    iPhoto: 2.5 seconds
    App Store: 3 seconds

Note: The time taken to open each of this apps for the first time since you boot your laptop will be marginally higher (iTunes took 7.7 secs as opposed to 3 seconds for subsequent loads).

Would I recommend this product? For its price, a huge "Yes". But its been only a month since I installed it, only time will tell if its worth its salt.

I was getting a little tired of running out memory on my iMAC (I bought it with 8Gb -
4 x 2Gb modules) and decided that I didn't want to have my shiny 'toy' spending
as much time as it was swapping, and generally running a lot slower than I liked.

So after a lot of research (and sharp intakes of breathe at the prices from most suppliers
for iMAC memory upgrades), I bought some memory (8Gb - 2 x 4Gb) from this supplier,
and was very pleased with it when it arrived.

Well packaged - at a very good price (that should be VERY good) - and once installed
worked perfectly with no problems whatsoever - recognised immediately by the system
    (OS X Snow Leopard)..

In fact, I was so pleased with it that I ordered another (matching) 8Gb or my iMAC,
bringing it up to 16Gb. Same story with that memory - installed easy and works with no
    problems.

I would definitely buy from this supplier again.

    Very pleased
